My favorite book.
I can’t say I have a favorite book; naturally I have a favorite author – Laurell K. Hamilton. She wrote many books, but they are all united with one line of a plot. It’s about Anita Blake - a Vampire hunter.
There are all in all 12 books. I read through 11 of them, but the 12-th is in English, so it’s very hard for me to read it. I have to sit with the dictionary and translate every second word! It’s only looks easy. They are: Guilty Pleasures, The Laughing Corpse, Circus of the Damned, The Lunatic Café, Bloody Bones, The Killing Dance, Burnt Offerings, Blue Moon, Obsidian Butterfly, Narcissus in Chains, Cerulean Sins, and Incubus Dreams.
So, the action takes place in the Saint-Luis. In this world there are Vampires, zombies, ghouls, trolls, werewolves, wereleopards, wererats and many more…Her name is Anita Blake. Vampires call her The Executioner. She’s working for Animators. Inc., - she raise the dead from the graveyard. And she earns big money. Ever since the Supreme Court granted the undead equal rights, most people think vampires are just ordinary folks with fangs, but they were and always will be the monsters. And still it happened that she’s dating two vampires – Asher and Jean-Claude, who also is the Master of the City (the strongest and the most powerful vampire in the city). But it’s not all. She is the human servant of Jean-Claude (a human servant is a human who is bound to a vampire by something called marks. You'll need to mark them 4 times. Only a master vampire can have a human servant and not even all of them. If your servant dies, you die too. Plusses for your servant include strength, healing, resistance to injury, and immunity to disease and poison. These, thankfully, make them harder to kill. Anita has only 3 marks). That is not all – she is the female leader of the “pard”- the Nimir-Ra, or so called leopard queen. But she is a human! Pard is a pack structure of wereleopards. But even that’s not all – she is Bolverk. Bolverk is the title for what amounts to someone who does the Ulfric's evil deeds. It can be anything from trickery, to lies, to murder. Ulfric is wolf king, a dominate alpha werewolf. His name is Richard and he’s Anita’s ex boyfriend.
The books are fool of adventures, mysteries, horrors, love, friendship and many more! I will describe the maintenance of the book, witch as I thing is the most exiting of all - Narcissus in Chains.
When a kidnapper targets innocent that Anita has sworn to protect, she needs all the help she can get. In an earth-shattering union, Anita, Jean-Claude, and Richard merge the marks - and melt into one another. Suddenly, Anita can harness both their powers. She can feel their hearts...hear their thoughts...know their hungers... To Anita have called and have told that somebody holds in hostages her friends, and that if she will not come they will be killed. Anita has contacted Richard and Jean-Claude and they have together gone to rescue her friends. When they have arrived on a place of a meeting - club "Narcissus in Chains”, for them already waited. In the fight which has occurred in club, Anita has strongly suffered, but has rescued friends. Jean-Claude thought that she became wereleopard because it has scratched her (Lycanthropes are not contagious in human form and not every kind of lycanthropy is equally contagious. A wereleopard can barely cut you and you get furry). But all has managed. Later it has killed all who offended her friends. After a while to city there has arrived Advice of vampires (All vampires are descended from the Vampire Council. The council decides which of them will send their vampires out to make more. For thousands of years, it was the Queen of Nightmares, Morte de Amore or The Dragon. But they grew tired of the games and retreated inside the council chambers. You rarely see them. The Council consists of seven master vampires and acts not so much as a governing body but as a court or police. It is (thankfully) located in far-off France. The council members are masters at finding that which terrifies you most and using it against you. They will use your desires against you and twist everything you are into a shape of their choosing. They are the nightmare on which all vampires are based. The thing that even other vampires fear.)They wished to check up really Jean-Claude is so strong, as he approves. And he really was. That’s why Council left. And Anita has found new friends (they were in an imprisonment at Council). One of them has appeared Micah - king of leopards. (He’s one of my most favorite characters). And they lived happily ever after!
I could tell about the book for eternity. A plot there confused, but very interesting! And I can tell with confidence that after you read these books, any others seems you simply boring!
